X-Men: Evolution is based on the animated series of the same name that aired on Kids' WB! The comic series did not begin until the cartoon's second season. Unlike most comics, the artwork for X-Men: Evolution is provided by a studio (Udon), rather than by artists employed directly by the publisher. Writer Devin Grayson (Batman: Gotham Knights, Nightwing) decided to reveal the origin of the team and its members in the first few issues. The series was cancelled after only 9 issues due to poor sales.
