JUSTICE
LEAGUE ELITE
They
do the jobs too dirty for the JLA
Springing
from a schism among the World’s Greatest Super-Heroes in JLA #100, JUSTICE
LEAGUE ELITE is the explosive spinoff team that’s not afraid
to cross the lines the JLA won’t! Only Joe Kelly’s action-packed brand
of storytelling combined with the combustive art and covers of Doug Mahnke
& Tom Nguyen could present this brash new super-team — that made its
mega-popular debut in the pages of ACTION COMICS #775 — in its hard-hitting,
incendiary glory! JUSTICE LEAGUE ELITE is a 12-issue maxiseries that kicks
off in July.
Led by Vera Black
— sister of the Elite’s controversial original leader, Manchester Black
— the Elite features both new and classic heroes, including several current
JLA members!
Black
hires the no-nonsense government watchdog Al-Sheikh to monitor the Justice
League Elite’s every move and keep the team honest. But can this mismatched
band of former assassins and disillusioned heroes fight clean when they
can’t even get along with one another?
And

Magazine called “Joe Kelly’s greatest work ever!” ACTION COMICS #775 ships

how long can he stay on the sidelines after being attacked by the nearly

SUPERMAN/BATMAN
#12
Things
heat up for the Man of Steel and the Dark Knight in SUPERMAN/BATMAN
#12, written by Jeph Loeb with stunning art by Michael Turner.
Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman have traveled to Apokolips to rescue
Kara Zor-El…but does she want to be saved? Direct Currents turned to Jeph
Loeb for some answers and insights!
Q:
What can readers expect in SUPERMAN/BATMAN #12?
A:
Things go a little…unexpected. Okay, a lot unexpected. We don't know a
whole lot about Kara, and in this issue, we might find out some things
we'd rather not.
Q:
What made you want to bring back Supergirl?
A:
I didn’t bring back anyone! This story is called “The Supergirl from Krypton.”
What happens to her in these six issues marks the beginning of a new person
in Superman’s life and in the DCU.
Q:
What’s it like working with Michael Turner?
A:
It’s just fun. We’ve been friends for a long time and see this story very,
very similarly. It’s like I write it, and he draws it, and I’m constantly
amazed by the results — and also by our colorist supreme Peter Steigerwald
and my good luck charm, the ever-crafty Richard Starkings, who are both
bringing a look to the book that is pretty spectacular.
Q.
In “The Supergirl from Krypton,” you get to write all three of DC’s classic
trinity of heroes. Do you have a favorite?
A.
They’re all great. I’m honored to play with them — even for a short time.
SUPERMAN/BATMAN
is an ongoing series edited by Eddie Berganza. The 32-page issue #12 arrives
in comic-book stores July 21 with a cover price of $2.95 U.S.

(Captain America, JLA: OUR WORLDS AT WAR) — in his first story
