Kubert
& Azzarello take on the legendary war hero…
SGT. ROCK: BETWEEN HELL AND A HARD PLACE
Joe Kubert: living legend — the artist who made Sgt. Rock world-famous.
Brian Azzarello: red-hot, award-winning writer of 100 BULLETS, Banner,
and now BATMAN.
These extraordinary creators have teamed up to create a new adventure
for the men of Easy Company in SGT. ROCK: BETWEEN HELL AND A HARD
PLACE, an original 144-page VERTIGO hardcover graphic novel.
November, 1944. In and around the Hürtgen Forest, some of the most
brutally intense combat of World War II is underway. In the middle of
this meat grinder, Sgt. Rock and the men of Easy Company — Ice Cream Soldier,
Bulldozer, Wildman, Little Sure Shot, and others — sneak behind enemy
lines to capture a group of German Intelligence officers. After a grueling
night of battle, with the enemy nowhere to be found, Easy Company finds
their prisoners slaughtered…all but one who somehow managed to escape.
In the midst of war, where men are trained to kill without remorse, and
with no commanding officer to consult, Sgt. Rock finds himself hunting
a killer.
Kubert and Azzarello tell a hard-boiled, realistic tale that treats these
seminal characters with the respect they deserve and will leave readers
begging for more.
This project is supported with a preview in Wizard magazine,
a full-color poster, trade and house ads, and a minisite at www.vertigocomics.com.

RAKE AT THE GATES OF HELL
TRADE PAPERBACK
Garth Ennis’s and Steve Dillon's run on the VERTIGO mainstay title HELLBLAZER
paved the way for their blockbuster series PREACHER. Now their final tale
of John Constantine is collected in HELLBLAZER: RAKE AT THE GATES

with the deadpan cockney magician John Constantine, RAKE AT THE GATES
OF HELL follows Constantine as he heads towards a final showdown with
a revenge-crazed Satan during a raging race riot. And in addition to desperately
trying to save his dwindling number of living friends, Constantine also
has one final reunion with his lost love Kit, whose family history is
detailed in the 58-page story HEARTLAND, set in her hometown of Belfast.
Plus, don’t miss the start of the 5-part storyline “Staring at the Walls”
